Research shows that early intervention can reduce the risk of developing long-term behavioral health disorders. As an evidence-based, integrated approach, Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) equips providers with a skill set for early identification and intervention of behavioral health concerns. Whether you’re a client-facing provider new to SBIRT or a clinician looking to brush up on your skills, this training will offer strategies for effective brief interventions that enhance engagement, inspire behavior change, and reduce unproductive dialogues. Best practices for facilitating will be offered, particularly demonstrating the integration of SBIRT into existing care models. Participants will also engage in hypothetical roleplay to practice improving their language, challenging their biases, and developing a greater sense of empathy.

This is an in-person workshop that will be held on Washington University’s Danforth Campus. The exact location and directions will be emailed to registered participants before the course date.
