This course deals with various languages OLLI students are likely familiar with as well as ones that are truly foreign. This course will examine languages from Europe, Africa, the Near East, India, Central Asia, the Orient, Southeast Asia and Siberia. Aside from looking at the features of the languages themselves and how they are related, participants will examine the successes and difficulties linguists have had in studying such disparate groups.
