BRWN-01017 - Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders in Dads and Non-Birthing Caregivers
Preferred registration deadline: May 2nd
3 CEs
While much-needed research on Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADS) has been increasing in recent years, the majority of focus continues to be solely on the birthing individual’s symptoms and experience. While this emphasis is crucial and long overdue, the consideration of the impact of PMADS on dads/ non-birthing individuals is imperative in supporting the health and mental health outcomes of children and the entire family unit. Research shows that 1 in 10 non-birthing partners experience postpartum depression and between 5-15% of non-birthing individuals develop an anxiety disorder such as postpartum anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or posttraumatic stress disorder during pregnancy or the first year postpartum.
This training will teach participants the signs and symptoms of PMADS in birthing and non-birthing individuals, provide participants with a clear understanding of effective assessment tools for the identification of PMADS, and provide participants with the fundamentals of various evidence-based practices for treating PMADS in non-birthing individuals.
This is an interactive synchronous distance learning course via Zoom.
