Registration deadline: June 7th 15 CEUs/CPH units Tragic events across our country over the last few years have brought renewed urgency to our shared understanding of the impact of racial division and disparities. Many concerned managers within social service agencies have found themselves wondering what they can do, from the roles they hold. What does it look like when individuals, organizations and systems are engaged, with intentional efforts to create a work culture in which everyone feels safe to fully show up and be included? This course provides first steps. You will learn how to assess an organization's readiness to advance racial equity by examining current circumstances and then create a strategy informed by that assessment. Attendees will explore both explicit and implied elements of organizational culture and the work climate, developing their understanding of how to address complex issues, build capacity for change, and empower individuals and the organization to work toward equity. We will consider how policies and practices can have supportive or limiting impact on individuals and the organization. Registrants will learn to identify what bias looks like and the trauma bias creates, along with ideas for addressing them. Participants will practice how to have critical conversations to enhance learning that encourages an inclusive, respectful and safe environment to meet mission goals.
