BRWN-010360 - Culturally Competent Practices for Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health Services

Preferred registration deadline: March 8th This workshop will be conducted in a virtual Zoom meeting format. 3 CEUs Cultural competence, trauma work, and advocacy within immigrant and refugee services are at an all-time high. This workshop will help clinicians working with immigrants and refugees review current best practices in mental health services. We will provide an in-depth review of the context of the refugee crisis, the types and stages of migration, and how this contributes to the layers of trauma these populations experience. Through group discussion and case study, we will also share approaches you can use in your own practice that have been found effective. This workshop meets the Missouri & Illinois social work licensure requirement for 3 hours of continuing education in cultural competency/humility.
