Preferred registration deadline: January 26th This workshop will be conducted in a virtual Zoom meeting format. 3 CEUs Many students bound into each school day eager to see friends, like most of their classes and teachers, and enjoy various school events, while others aren’t exactly “bound in”, per se. There are also students who refuse to come to school willingly and who consume a disproportionate amount of time from school staff. They often leave their parents bewildered, desperate, and willing to try almost anything to get the morning battles to stop. This workshop provides strategies to help these distressed and distressing students and their families. We will learn the anxiety formula, the impact of avoidance on anxiety, and common characteristics of students with school anxiety. We will also learn methods to increase identification and referral skills for students who may be experiencing school anxiety, avoidance, and/or refusal, including strategies that lessen students’ anxiety levels and create healthier classrooms. Best-practice interventions to increase school attendance will also be discussed. General Admission: $60**   Class size is limited to 50. **Discounts on workshop admission are offered to the Brown School’s students, alumni, and field instructors.
