BRWN-010349 - Advocacy and Inclusion: Children With Disabilities in Early Childhood Programs

Preferred registration deadline: November 10th This workshop will be held in person at the Brown School 3 CEUs Disabilities and children’s needs are incredibly diverse and the laws related to educational access can be confusing. As social workers or caregivers, you may not feel knowledgeable about all types of disabilities and the law supporting disabled children, leading to a reluctance to advocate for implementing inclusion fully. Accessibility and inclusion can at times feel more difficult in the early childhood years when children are growing and changing so quickly, and may or may not have a disability diagnosis. This workshop will explore the benefits of and challenges to early childhood inclusion. Participants will learn how the ADA applies to early childhood programs, strategies to ensure all children are welcomed and successful, and how to build successful relationships with families and caregivers. This workshop meets the Missouri & Illinois social work licensure requirement for 3 hours of continuing education in diversity/cultural competency/humility. General Admission: $60**   Class size is limited to 30. **Discounts on workshop admission are offered to the Brown School’s students, alumni, and field instructors.
