BRWN-010345 - Advancing an Age Inclusive Society: Ageism and Its Intersections

Preferred registration deadline: October 6th This workshop will be conducted in a virtual Zoom meeting format. 3 CEUs In our society, ageism is pervasive, invisible, and harmful to individuals and communities. Age bias affects both young and old, regardless of identity. As a society, we are living longer and we are seeing ageism continue to show itself more than ever, in healthcare, the workplace, media, politics, and our day-to-day lives. In order to move forward in an equitable way, we must advance another narrative; that regardless of age, we are all valuable contributors to our society. In this workshop, we will learn how to increase awareness and understanding about age as an identity issue and how age intersects with other social identities. We will learn strategies to foster age-inclusivity in organizations and communities, and how to implement interventions to achieve age-inclusivity and awareness in an ever-changing society. This workshop meets the Missouri & Illinois social work licensure requirement for 3 hours of continuing education in diversity/cultural competency/humility.
