BRWN-010342 - Animal-Assisted Interventions: Assistance Dogs, Facility Dogs, and Therapy Dogs

Preferred registration deadline: November 24th This workshop will be off-site at Duo Dogs. 3 CEUs This workshop, led by Duo Dogs staff, will introduce participants to the growing field of service animals and highlight the different types of assistive and therapeutic tasks specially trained dogs can provide. Participants will learn how federal law (ADA) and accredited assistance dog organizations help uphold the right to public access. Examples of evidence-based practice on the utilization of dogs in animal-assisted interventions will be provided. Case examples will be discussed in small groups to help participants assess a client’s fitness for referral to an assistance dog program as well as to determine if an organization may be a good fit for a facility dog. Note: This workshop will be held at a non-Brown School location and is interactive with service animals. General Admission: $60**   Class size is limited to 45. **Discounts on workshop admission are offered to the Brown School’s students, alumni, and field instructors.
