Trauma exposure is common across the lifespan and can have profound impacts on mental health, functioning, and overall well-being. For clinicians working with adults, the ability to recognize and respond to trauma-related symptoms—particularly those associated with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)—is essential to delivering ethical, effective care. Yet many providers receive limited training in the use of validated assessment tools or in implementing structured, evidence-based treatments that support long-term recovery.

This workshop is designed to equip mental health professionals with foundational knowledge and practical skills in assessing and treating PTSD in adults. Participants will learn how to use a range of assessment methods, including semi-structured clinical interviews and standardized self-report measures, to accurately identify PTSD symptoms and treatment needs. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of using trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches that promote client safety, empowerment, and collaboration throughout the assessment process. Participants will also be introduced to two of the most widely supported evidence-based treatments for PTSD: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). These recovery-focused models have demonstrated strong effectiveness in reducing PTSD symptoms and improving functioning.

This is an interactive synchronous distance learning course via Zoom.
