Preferred registration deadline: March 4th This workshop will be conducted in a virtual Zoom meeting format. 3 CEUs Mindfulness, which involves “bringing deliberate and non-judgmental awareness and attention to one’s present moment experience,” is a practice with roots in ancient Buddhist traditions, where it is viewed as a necessary component for the cessation of suffering. Mindfulness can also be used as a tool to increase awareness of our own biases and preconceptions, thus recognizing our blind spots and helping us to understand and develop cultural humility. In this workshop, participants will build awareness of how mindfulness practice can increase their awareness and cultural humility by engaging in self-observation and reflection. This session will cover foundational concepts, benefits, and the science behind mindfulness, as well as different forms of mindfulness practice and specific examples and skills that the participants will take with them for their own social work practice. This workshop meets the Missouri & Illinois social work licensure requirement for 3 hours of continuing education in cultural competency/humility. General Admission: $60**   Class size is limited to 30. **Discounts on workshop admission are offered to the Brown School’s students, alumni, and field instructors. We also offer a discount to full-time graduate students in other programs and to our Washington University faculty/staff colleagues. No other discounts are available.
