Preferred registration deadline: July 9th This workshop will be conducted in a virtual Zoom meeting online format. 3 CEUs Black girls in the US are disproportionately at risk. They are suspended from school, sexually exploited, and sent to juvenile detention centers at higher rates than girls from other races. On television and social media, they are inundated with negative stereotypes of “the angry black girl/woman.” This workshop with consider the history and impact of colorism on black girls, along with the developmental consequences of trauma. Our conversation will include implicit biases, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive teaching to help black girls succeed inside and outside the classroom. We will explore trauma-informed interventions to help black girls heal and restore. General Admission: $60**   Class size is limited to 60. **Discounts on workshop admission are offered to the Brown School’s students, alumni, and field instructors. We also offer a discount to full-time graduate students in other programs and to our Washington University faculty/staff colleagues. No other discounts are available.
