Preferred registration deadline: February 12th This workshop will be conducted in a virtual Zoom meeting online format. 3 CEUs This workshop will deepen participants’ understanding of what is meant by the phrase “school to prison pipeline,” along with illuminating factors that contribute to this troubling pattern. We will discuss bias and traumatic stress before considering how that traumatic stress can manifest in the play therapy room with African American clients. We will review Adlerian play therapy principles and share strategies to engage African American children in play therapy in order to facilitate healthy social, emotional and cognitive development. You will leave with new play therapy interventions designed to engage African American children and adolescents.
