BRWN-010277 - Youth Suicide Prevention: Counseling, Intervention Strategies, and Safety Planning with Adolescents
Preferred registration deadline: January 9th
3 CEs
Suicide among adolescents and young adults is now the second leading cause of death in individuals of middle school, high school, and college age, exceeded only by accidents. Yearly in America, suicide is responsible for more deaths of 10-24 year olds than all natural causes combined. It is vital that social workers, school mental health professionals, and other human service professionals who work with adolescents have up-to-date information regarding intervention strategies and safety planning. Topics covered in this workshop will include intervention strategies to use with adolescents experiencing depression and/or suicidal ideation, developing a safety plan, alternatives for pain relief, building social-emotional coping skills, and increasing outpatient care.
This is an interactive synchronous distance learning course via Zoom. This class meets the licensure requirement for 2 hours of continuing education in suicide prevention.
