BRWN-010077 - Is It Oppositional Defiant Disorder? Assessment & Tools for Challenging Behavior in Young Children

Preferred registration deadline: October 18th 3 CEUs While some challenging behaviors in early childhood are developmentally important and appropriate, other behaviors are cause for concern and require appropriate clinical intervention. How do we differentiate between “appropriate” and “concerning”…and when is it helpful to consider a diagnosis versus just to respond to a behavior? This workshop will provide an overview of the diagnoses most commonly associated with challenging behavior in early childhood and review the diagnostic criteria. Informed with this background, we will explore the intersection of child development and clinical intervention. Through lecture and group activities, participants will gain a toolkit of resources, evidence-based approaches, and best practices for working with young children who exhibit a range of challenging behaviors.
