Preferred registration deadline: July 31st 3 CEUs Looking for trauma-informed strategies to help parents whose children have behavioral concerns? Then this workshop is for you. PCIT is an empirically-supported treatment for children ages 2 to 7 with emotional dysregulation and behavioral challenges that emphasizes improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent-child interaction patterns. It uses child-centered play therapy and real time coaching to develop consistent parenting skills. This workshop will discuss key elements of PCIT and demonstrate how therapists can coach parents in managing their child's behavioral problems. Participants will explore PCIT through a combination of didactic instruction, video demonstrations, and hands-on experience. Current research on PCIT effectiveness, facts vs. myths in the media, and the process for becoming a certified PCIT clinician will also be provided.
