This course will be held in person at the Brown School with asynchronous work in Canvas/WUEx. Access to a computer/laptop with internet access is required.

This class will include both degree-seeking graduate students and practicing professionals. Individuals registering through Professional Development will receive continuing education units - but not academic credit - for the class.
Learner Outcomes
- Describe the core principles and spirit of Motivational Interviewing and explain how they support client engagement and behavior change
- Demonstrate foundational MI communication skills, including open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summaries (OARS)
- Apply MI strategies to support clients in making emotional, behavioral, and health-related changes.
The Brown School is an approved provider of Social Work CEs in Missouri and Illinois.
