Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical method designed to help people resolve ambivalence about change by evoking intrinsic motivation and commitment. This course will review the basic spirit, principles, and strategies of MI, particularly ways to evoke change talk and handle resistance. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice the skills in the classroom setting. The use of MI in conjunction with other counseling styles and interventions will also be discussed.

Class size is limited to 25.
