BRWN-011008 - Native American Perspectives to Health & Wellness
Preferred registration deadline: July 24th
3 CEs
For thousands of years, Native Americans have possessed the knowledge and practices to achieve optimal health and wellness by maintaining balance on a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual level, a practice deeply rooted in the interconnectedness of environment, community, spiritual beliefs, and culture.
This workshop will examine Native American history, cultural perspectives, and the utilization of the medicine wheel towards holistic healing. Participants will move from theory to action by constructing a personalized holistic model and learn to map complex challenges onto the wheel to identify imbalances and find paths toward restoration. Attendees will be able to apply these perspectives towards practice in serving individuals, families, and communities.
This workshop meets the social work licensure requirement for 3 hours of continuing education in diversity/cultural competency/humility.
This is an in-person workshop that will be held on Washington University’s Danforth Campus. The exact location and directions will be emailed to registered participants before the course date.
