In this course, members will explore the art of poetry, an expression shaped by the constraints of form and poetic devices combined with personal ideas, experiences, memories and dreams.  On the first day, members are encouraged to bring a poem they have written, with a copy for each class member, using an easy -to-read font no smaller than size 14.  Weekly assignments and handouts will be provided, and poems will be shared via email before each class for more prepared discussions.  Members will read and discuss their poems to enjoy the writing process, offer encouragement and provide constructive feedback.

Optional text:  The Poetry Home Repair Manual by Ted Kooser; A Poetry Handbook by Mary Oliver.
