Learner Outcomes
- Describe clinical presentation and sequence of progression of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD), including the functional changes and associated behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.
- Discover the benefits of pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies to enhance care quality and safety for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.
- Identify and analyze environmental and contextual factors that contribute to or trigger behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
- Identify and demonstrate different strategies and resources to support people with dementia and their families throughout the health care journey.
- Demonstrate effective strategies for partnering with families to identify concerns, reduce caregiver burden, and improve outcomes for people living with dementia.
Course Completion Requirements:
- The Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis, Professional Development, provider #2130, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/24/2025 – 9/24/2028. Social workers completing this course receive 3 clinical continuing education credits.
