Since the success of the writers of the "Irish Renaissance," including Nobel laureate W. B. Yeats (1865-1939), Irish poetry has continued to thrive. This course continues a survey of poetry in Irish (in translation) and English since the 1930s. This term's focus is poets who flourished through the 1970s and 1980s. They include John Montague (1929-2016), Thomas Kinsella (1928-2021), Eavan Boland (1944-2020), Eilean Ni Chuilleanain (b. 1942), and Derek Mahon (1941-2020).
