Welcome to another episode of Detective Fiction, now entering its 21st season! We are focusing on police procedurals, and a majority of books this term are by female authors (5) and most are set outside the US.  First up is a stand-alone novel by internationally famous Irish author Tana French, The Searchers. Next we will stop in England for The Appeal by Janice Hallett, whose story telling techniques include emails, text messages, and letters. Harini Nagendra’s book, The Bangalore Detective’s Club, set in 1921 India, is the third book on our list. For police procedurals, we start with P. D. James’ The Lighthouse, followed by Colin Dexter’s Inspector Morse novel, The Dead of Jericho. Peter Lovesy’s Bloodhounds, with Detective Peter Diamond, is book #6, and Ann Cleeves’ Vera Stanhope stars in book #7, The Moth Catchers. Finally, we wind up with Michael Connelly’s latest Harry Bosch-Rene Ballard book, Desert Star.
